Seattle police officers are investigating after a 53-year-old man arrived at a North Seattle hospital last night after being attacked with a machete.
On Oct. 12 at about 8:00 p.m., patrol officers responded to Swedish Medical Center in Ballard for a patient with severe injuries from an assault with a machete. The victim had several lacerations on the left side of his head, left forearm, and left hand.
Police determined that the victim’s ex-girlfriend confronted him about money in the area of Northwest 46th Street and 9th Avenue Northwest. During their argument, her new boyfriend began striking him with a machete, seriously injuring him. The victim escaped in a vehicle with his friend, and she drove him to the nearby hospital.
Police found the area of the attack, including a 20-foot blood trail, and processed the scene for evidence. The suspect left the area before the cops arrived.
Officers in the Lynnwood Police Department helped Seattle police search for the suspect, possibly residing in Lynnwood, yet they could not find him. Anyone with information is asked to call the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000. Anonymous tips are accepted.
This is an open and active investigation assigned to the Homicide and Assault Unit.
