Following an attempted armed carjacking, Seattle police detectives are investigating after a legally armed victim shot two suspects in Belltown Queen Anne this morning.
At about 3:30 a.m., patrol officers responded to a shooting in the 2200 block of 1st Avenue. There, officers found a suspect suffering from multiple gunshot wounds (GSW) and detained him. Police also detained the victim, a licensed gun owner, for questioning and recovered the firearm. Â
Firefighters responded with police and provided medical aid to the suspect. Medics transported him to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) in serious condition. He remains under armed guard by police.
Officers determined that the victim parked his sports car along 1st Avenue when a white sedan, with four occupants inside wearing facemasks, approached him. After a brief conversation, two men armed with guns attempted to steal his car. Fearing for his safety, the victim fired multiple rounds, striking one of the suspects.
The remaining suspects fled the area in the sedan before police arrived.
While investigating, a white sedan dropped off a second suspect at HMC, suffering a GSW. The vehicle and its remaining occupant(s) fled before police arrived. The second suspect, in serious condition, is also under armed guard. Â
Officers and robbery detectives processed the scene, collected evidence, and spoke to witnesses. Police transported the victim to Seattle Police Headquarters to be interviewed by detectives before being released.
This is an open and active investigation assigned to the Robbery Unit.
