EXCLUSIVE: Saladin Patterson has renewed his overall deal with 20th Television and 20th Television Animation.
Under the new pact, Patterson will continue as executive producer and showrunner on Hulu’s King of the Hill revival, which he co-developed with the original series’ creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels.
Patterson also will continue to develop, write and executive produce original live-action and animated series for linear networks and streamers, with emphasis on Disney Entertainment Television platforms. He currently has several projects in development set within the Disney ecosystem.
After a 15-year break, King of the Hill returned with Season 14 on Hulu in August. The new episodes fueled the animated series to a No.2 finish on Nielsen’s overall Top 10 streaming chart for its opening week behind Netflix’s Wednesday. The 268 episodes of King of the Hill drew 1.21B minutes of streaming time in the U.S., with the 10 fresh episodes accounting for 77% of that. The new season also scored 98% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Since King of the Hill became available on Hulu in November 2018, the series has amassed more than 1 billion hours streamed globally across Hulu/Disney+.
The 10-episode Season 15 of King of the Hill is set to premiere on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ in 2026. The animated series already has been renewed for Seasons 16 and 17, each consisting of 10 episodes.
Patterson, who has been under back-to-back deals at 20th TV since 2019, created, executive produced and showran the studio’s The Wonder Years reboot for ABC and has been serving as a consulting producer on 20th TV’s ABC comedy Shifting Greats. His series credits also include FX’s Dave and TBS’ The Last O.G., on which he was EP/showrunner, as well as CBS’ The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men, USA’ Psych, NBC’s Frasier and Fox’s The Bernie Mac Show.
