Seattle police officers arrested a 28-year-old felon and two other shoplifters during a Retail Theft Operation in the University Village shopping center yesterday evening.
On Dec. 23 at about 7:15 p.m., patrol officers conducting the operation arrested two women, 28 and 34, stealing merchandise from Victoria’s Secret. Police recovered $173 in stolen items and seized a fixed-blade knife, lockpick kit, and brass knuckles from one of the suspects.
Officers identified and released the women and recommended criminal charges to the city attorney’s office.
Towards the end of the operation, the lingerie store’s Loss Prevention manager caught two more suspects stealing. When officers moved in to apprehend them, they ran through the parking lot, ditching merchandise as they fled. Police caught one of the men and arrested him. The second suspect evaded capture.
The 28 year old, known to law enforcement as a violent offender is a previously convicted felon for assault and robbery. Police booked him into the King County Jail for Organized Retil Theft and Obstructing a Public Officer.
Officers recovered $759 in stolen merchandise. The other suspect remains outstanding. This is an open and active case assigned to the General Investigations Unit. Â
