Twinkle: A Memory Unfurls
The sun sets over the old neighborhood, casting long shadows that stretch across memories. The air is thick with the scent of magnolias and freshly cut grass. I’m a kid again, standing in front of my grandmother’s house on Summer Street.
The Sun and the Ice Cream Truck
The ice cream truck pulls up, its chimes ringing like a happy jingle. My sister Sarah and I are already outside, our shoes squeaking on the cracked sidewalk. We can’t wait to dive into those cool, sugary treats that promise an afternoon of joy. But first, we have to earn them.
The Porch Swing
We dash through the front door where my grandmother is sitting in her favorite rocking chair. She smiles at us, and I feel a wave of warmth wash over me, her love, her wisdom, her unwavering presence. “Go on now,” she says, patting the swing next to her.

The porch swing creaks as we climb up together. The breeze from inside is warm but comforting. Sarah and I share a secret; our laughter mingles with the sound of the truck’s chimes. This moment feels like it’ll last forever.
The Ice Cream
We finally make our way outside where the ice cream man has already started serving his treats. He looks at us knowingly, knowing we’re the youngest in line. “What flavors?” he asks. Sarah and I trade glances; deciding on a classic: chocolate for me, vanilla for her.
As we take our first bites of ice cream, the world around us seems to slow down. The street lights flicker on, casting soft light over the old houses. Neighbors wave from their porches, greeting each other with friendly smiles. It’s a summer night in Atlanta, simple, sweet, and perfect.
Afterglow
We finish our ice cream and watch as we head home. The neighborhood settles into its evening quiet. But even as we walk past the houses that have been part of my life for as long as I can remember, those flavors linger on my tongue. “Twinkle” plays in my head, those notes, that melody, a reminder of the magic of summer.

Every stream buys back a piece of what it cost.
