Detectives Investigating Fatal Collision in Eastlake

[ad_1]

Seattle police detectives are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision in the Eastlake neighborhood this morning.

At about 6:05 a.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a recycling truck running over a man on East Shelby Street near the 2800 block of Eastlake Avenue East. There, officers found a man down in the roadway.

The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived and provided medical treatment to the victim. Despite all life-saving efforts, SFD pronounced the man deceased from his injuries.

Police cordoned off the area, and Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) detectives arrived to process the scene. TCIS determined that the driver unintentionally ran over an unhoused man lying in front of the garage and recycling dumpsters in the middle of the dead-end street.

The truck driver remained on scene and cooperated with police. A Drug Recognition Expert evaluated her and found no signs of impairment. Officers did not arrest her.

The King County Medical Examiner (KCME) arrived and took custody of the deceased. KCME will identify the victim and determine the cause and manner of death.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call TCIS at 206-684-8923.
