“Dumbo’s Feather” by Artist Hannah Lee

[ad_1]

A series of new oil paintings by New York-based artist Hannah Lee. “Dumbo’s Feather” features dream-like, observational scenes of daily life. Completed over the past year, Lee’s work starts from a highly personal perspective yet still manages to feel deeply recognizable and relatable. Lee’s painterly process is also somewhat unique as it involves applying a faint grid to a reference photograph. Rendering her composition piece by piece, a kind of abstraction occurs. Added to this is the fact that Lee is legally blind. Using pre-mapped photographs in-hand, Lee’s imagery carries a sense of photographic memory in more ways than one.

“Dumbo’s Feather” marks Lee’s first solo exhibition in Los Angeles. Check out more images below or on display at James Fuentes from June 7 until July 5th.
