The same that is said of Margaret Kilgallen, can be said of Barry McGee: there isn’t enough written about the universe he has created, nurtured, reimagined throughout his 30+ year career. So seeing The Nature Inside Me at Eighteen Gallery, where Barry has shown before, feels like second nature and organic. As the gallery notes of the show, Barry makes “vast, unpredictable, and improvised organic, site-specific installations. He incorporates paintings, ceramics, drawings, books, plants, photography, sculptures, and found objects into immersive exhibitions that sprout, grow, and flow over the walls, floors, and ceilings of the exhibition space.” It feels fresh as it channels and integrates the past, present and future. —Evan Pricco
