Seattle police officers are investigating after a 24-year-old man was shot in the Central District this morning.

At about 2:30 a.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting near 24th Avenue East and East Union Street. Officers arrived and located blood and evidence of a shooting.

While investigating, the victim arrived at Harborview Medical Center via private vehicle, in serious condition.

Police determined that while the victim and friends were standing near the street, they were approached by a group of men and a fight broke out. Patrol officers processed the scene. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation. Detectives in the Gun Violence Reduction Unit are assigned to this case.

If anyone has information, they are asked to call the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000. They can remain anonymous.
