Seattle police detectives are investigating a single-vehicle fatality collision in South Seattle this evening.Â
At 7:25 p.m., patrol officers responded to a collision in the 4700 block of East Marginal Way South. Police and the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived and located the victim inside his car. Despite all life-saving efforts, SFD pronounced the 30-year-old man deceased.Â
Police determined the driver was going southbound at a high rate-of-speed on East Marginal Way South when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a light pole. The car landed on train tracks on the west side of the road about 40 yards away.Â
Police cordoned off the area until detectives with the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) arrived and processed the scene. The King County Medical Examiner arrived and took custody of the deceased.Â
