Djimon Hounsou & Halle Berry Join Thriller ‘Red Card’ From B…

Djimon Hounsou and Halle Berry are set to star in the Africa-based trafficking thriller Red Card, a film that will take viewers on a journey from Kenya’s lush Maasai Mara plains to the bustling port of Casablanca in Morocco. The project will be directed by Joel Souza, who is returning to feature films with this project after his previous work on Rust. The screenplay is penned by George Gallo, known for Bad Boys and Midnight Run, along with Oscar-winning Green Book writer Nick Vallelonga.

The story is inspired by true events from Africa and is developed by Ava Roosevelt, Robert Menzies, and Michael J. Hershman.

In the film, Hounsou will play Max Elmi, a seasoned ranger in Kenya fighting against poaching. He teams up with Dane Harris, a persistent special agent, played by an actor currently being cast, who works alongside FBI supervisor Amanda Bruckner—portrayed by Berry—within an international law enforcement alliance targeting trafficking operations.

The plot intensifies when Max’s talented soccer-playing son is duped by a corrupt sports agent and disappears into the criminal underworld of North Africa. Max’s relentless pursuit to find his son, alongside Dane’s moral dilemmas, propels the story from Kenyan Maasai villages to the vibrant streets of Casablanca. The film is supported by the National Centre for Missing & Exploited Children and the Soloviev Foundation.

“Red Card features a compelling script from writers with a proven track record of creating memorable films, and Djimon is an actor of exceptional depth,” Souza said. “We’re excited to bring this gripping story to audiences worldwide.”

Casting for the role of Dane Harris is ongoing, with filming scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year.
