A project intended to bring comfort and joy to those feeling frustrated, anxious, or helpless by NYC/Shanghai-based illustrator Handowin He. “Off Work Everyday” is a music and art collaboration with He’s friend, DJ Shun. It consists of eight digital albums representing the seven days of the week plus one “bonus” day. Each illustration explores the fusion of two parallel worlds—the background capturing real Japanese landscapes, while the framed panels reveal fleeting, dreamlike moments connected to those places.
“Subtle visual cues bridge these two dimensions, creating a sense of harmony between reality and imagination. Drawing inspiration from my memories of traveling in Japan, the series evokes nostalgia and serenity and aims to remind viewers to find small moments of happiness through the soothing blend of art and music.”
