Police Investigating Stabbing in South Lake Union


Seattle police officers are investigating a stabbing in South Lake Union this evening.

At about 7:45 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a stabbing near 7th Avenue and Denny Way. There, officers found a man, collapsing in front of a police car, suffering from multiple stab wounds. Officers provided him with emergency medical aid. The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived and took over medical care.

SFD transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition with life-threatening injuries.

Officers determined that two men got into a physical altercation prior to the stabbing. The circumstances leading up to their interaction is under investigation. The suspect left the area before police arrived.

While investigating, officers found a blood trail that led to a nearby apartment building in the 100 block of Dexter Avenue North. A police contact team searched the common areas of the building and found the blood trail leading to a 6th floor hallway.

While police searched for the suspect, a man called into 911 requesting medical attention from being attacked on a bus. Officers quickly found him on the 6th floor as they searched, and they arrested him without incident.

The 31-year-old man is expected to be booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Assault.
