Re: United States v. Combs, 24-cr-542 (AS)
Dear Judge Subramanian,
I write to you as a concerned citizen, a victim, and a plaintiff in pending civil litigation against Mr. Sean Combs (Docket No. CV-08440), which specifically addresses violent and retaliatory actions by Mr. Combs as far back as 1996. While I understand the limits of my voice in this matter, it is my wildest dream that this letter—and the concerns of countless others—might reach beyond the immediate legal bubble and illuminate the very real risks posed by granting Mr. Combs bail. However, I honestly believe that even given bail, he will violate and find himself locked up again.
Nevertheless, it’s important I have my say:
Over decades, Mr. Combs has exhibited a troubling pattern of behavior involving violence, intimidation, and retaliation against those who challenge him or stand in his way. My civil case is just one of many examples that highlight a history of harm that cannot and should not be ignored. Supported by testimony and evidence, my complaint underscores the danger Mr. Combs poses not only to direct victims but also to the broader community.
For God’s sake, I even took my quality time last year to write a detailed memoir, The Night Puff Tried to Kill Me, which outlines a harrowing account of my experiences as well as that of 2 others. But respectfully, as busy and as focused as you must be, I can’t imagine you’ve heard about or read my detailed account. And so here I am, Your Honor, using social media as my leverage. Call it a wing and a prayer.
Even under the strictest conditions, I fear that granting bail to Mr. Combs would embolden further acts of intimidation and harm, placing victims, witnesses, and the public in grave danger. This case is about more than a single criminal matter—it is about justice, safety, and holding powerful figures accountable for their actions. Something that’s been necessary and overdue for decades. So, you sir, are the balance that the Universe is calling on. The balance that support’s the good as apposed to the evil.
I deeply respect this court’s process and your commitment to a fair and just outcome. My hope is that this letter, shared from the perspective of someone directly impacted by Mr. Combs’ actions, will add valuable context to your deliberations.
Thank you for taking the time to read my plea. Should you or any party involved require further information regarding my civil case or testimony, I am prepared to provide it.
Respectfully,
DeWitt Gilmore
