Move over Patrick Mahomes, Brock Purdy and Joe Burrow are raising the bar for Christmas gifts from NFL quarterbacks this holiday season!
Just one day after the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, 29, filled his team’s locker room with lavish gifts, Purdy, 24, played Santa Claus for the San Francisco 49ers, while Burrow, 28, acted as Old Saint Nick for the Cincinnati Bengals.
“Epic gift alert: Joe Burrow gifted his offensive linemen authentic Japanese Katana swords,” The Athletic‘s Paul Dehner Jr. reported on X (formerly Twitter) Thursday, Dec. 19.
Describing the gifts, he added, “They are all unique. Each sword comes with its own story, from certain towns or battles. He put them all in a room and had them pick theirs out.”
“Joe does a great job at buying gifts that are extremely meaningful,” Bengals left tackle Orlando Brown told Dehner Jr. “The fact that he bought me a sword, it’s the most ancient form of respect.”
But the gift-giving didn’t end there for pro athletes — Purdy also gave presents to his lineman on Thursday.
“Santa Purdy 🎅,” the 49ers captioned an Instagram carousel dedicated to the sweet surprise.
The first image showed the Arizona native standing with his offensive line, while a white Toyota SUV with a big red bow was parked between the group.
A video included in the photo round-up showed Purdy entering a room and apologizing to his teammates for keeping them waiting.
“Boys, wanna say ‘Merry Christmas.’ Got some gifts for you guys, sorry for the wait,” he said as he walked in to where the other players had been sitting.
With smiles on everyone’s faces, he led them outside to “five Sequoias” and “five Tundras” from Toyota for them to pick from.
2025 Toyota Tundras start at $40,090, with 2025 Sequoias beginning at $62,175, bringing the gift total to at least $511,325.
While the exact total remains unknown, it’s worth noting that Purdy became a Toyota ambassador earlier this year with a national ad spot as the Official Automotive Partner of the NFL as it welcomed a new generation of Draft stars.
“I have been driving a Toyota since my NFL rookie season, so this NFL Draft ad campaign marks a milestone for me to be in a national ad spot for the brand,” he said at the time.
Earlier this week, Mahomes gave his teammates a variety of gifts.
Instead of using a stocking, he stuffed red Yeti Tundra Haul wheeled coolers with Normatec Elite air compression leg attachments by Hyperice — devices perfect for post-game recovery as “revolutionary HyperSync technology” ensures users will get the most out of their “symmetrical massage.”

He also surprised his teammates with Rolex watches, Lucchese leather boots, Oakley sunglasses, WHOOP bands and products from Adidas’ Black Y-3 line.
Two Chiefs players seemed to be on the top of the nice list this year, as they appeared to receive Louis Vuitton luggage in addition to the other gifts.
