Crossing off tasks feels great, but for most teams, usingtask management software isn’t really about the quick win — it’s about getting work done on time and with fewer surprises. When deadlines start slipping, handoffs break down, or priorities change halfway through a project, the tool you use can either bring order to the chaos or add to it.
Many commentators claim that Islam does not pose a threat of violence in the United States. Influencers such as Tucker Carlson often repeat this argument. Others, including then-President Joe Biden and FBI Director Christopher Wray, have argued that white supremacists represent the primary domestic threat.
.
Yet March alone saw multiple terrorist attacks carried out by Muslims. In Austin, a terrorist wore a sweatshirt reading “Property of Allah” during an attack. In New York City, bomb throwers shouted “Allahu Akbar” while throwing a homemade shrapnel bomb. At Old Dominion University, a shooter also yelled “Allahu Akbar” and had previously been convicted of supporting ISIS. Another attacker, whose brother was a Hezbollah terrorist commander, targeted Temple Israel in Michigan, and yet another attack, involving three men of Iraqi origin, targeted the U.S. embassy in Norway. The Austin, Old Dominion, and New York City bombers and the Michigan synagogueattackers were also all foreign-born individuals who were naturalized U.S. citizens.
.
Terrorist attacks take many forms. For example, the January 2025 truck attack in New Orleans, with an ISIS flag on the truck, left 14 people dead and 47 injured. But let’s focus the discussion on one type of attack that has been extensively studied: mass public shootings. Researchers define a mass public shooting as an attack in which a perpetrator kills four or more people at one time in a public place, excluding crimes such as gang fights or robberies.
.
Looking at all mass public shootings from 1998 through 2025 reveals several patterns. Muslims commit these crimes at a disproportionate rate. White males commit them at a rate below their share of the population. And most shooters express no clear political ideology.
.
From January 1998 to December 2025, the United States experienced 108 mass public shootings by 111 shooters. Eight of those shooters were Muslim – 7.2% of the total. During that same period, Muslims averaged about 0.4% of the U.S. population. In other words, their share of attacks was 18 times their share of the population.
.
The attacks included those carried out by Sulejman Talovic in Salt Lake City in 2007; Nidal Malik Hasan at Fort Hood in 2009; Mohammod Youssuf Abdulazeez in Chattanooga in 2015; Omar Mateen in Orlando in 2016; Arcan Cetin in Burlington, Washington, in 2016; Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa in Boulder, Colorado, in 2021; and Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik in San Bernardino, California, in 2015.
.
By contrast, seven attackers – 6.5% of the total – expressed white supremacist, neo-Nazi, or anti-immigrant views.
.
Some attackers described as anti-immigrant also expressed environmentalist motivations. For example, the murderers in El Paso, Texas; Dayton, Ohio; and Buffalo, New York wrote about concerns that population growth – particularly among minorities – was harming the environment. The El Paso killer wrote in his manifesto: “The decimation of the environment is creating a massive burden for future generations … The next logical step is to decrease the number of people in America using resources. If we can get rid of enough people, then our way of life can become more sustainable.” Similarly, the Buffalo killer wrote: “There is no Green future with never ending population growth.” The Dayton murderer was also an environmentalist, a registered Democrat, who described himself on Twitter as a “leftist,” and was very upset that Ohio’s Republican senator didn’t support the gun control he thought necessary.
.
These attackers also described themselves as anti-capitalist, anti-conservative, and supportive of worker ownership of the means of production. Despite those claims, news media outlets consistently label them broadly as right-wing extremists or white supremacists.
.
The media widely repeats the Anti-Defamation League’s claim that all extremist violence from 2022 to 2024 came from right-wing perpetrators. Yet the ADL labels the 2022 Buffalo mass murderer right-wing simply because he expressed racist views and excludes other attackers. Those omitted include Audrey Elizabeth Hale, who attacked the Covenant School in Nashville in 2023 after denouncing “white privilege” and threatening to “kill all you little crackers,” as well as Robert Crimo, who killed seven people in Highland Park in 2022 and expressed hostility toward Trump, and Connor Sturgeon, who killed five in Louisville after praising the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests and criticizing police violence and Trump.
.
Overall, non-Middle Eastern whites make up about 64% of the U.S. population but account for roughly 55% of mass public shooters. Seven attacks involved individuals of Middle Eastern origin – 6.4% of attackers – about 16 times their share of the population. That makes Middle Easterners the most disproportionate ethnic or racial group involved in mass public shootings during this period. Blacks, Asians, and American Indians commit these attacks at slightly higher rates than their shares of the population, while Hispanics commit them at substantially lower rates – about 9% below their share of the population.
.
Even before this month’s attacks, the evidence showed that Muslims in the United States commit terrorism at a greatly disproportionate rate, though that doesn’t mean that all or even most Muslims are a danger. The data also contradict claims that whites or right-wing white supremacists pose the primary terrorist threat. Honest discussion requires acknowledging the data on who commits these attacks rather than filtering it through political narratives about which threats are acceptable to discuss. If policymakers and the public want effective prevention, they must start with a clear-eyed assessment of the risks rather than with wishful thinking.
‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Series Future Is Up in the Air!!!
Published
“The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” production has been shut down for weeks … and we hear it’s unclear whether another episode will ever be filmed.
Here’s the deal … ‘SLOMW’ slammed the brakes due to an alleged February domestic incident involving Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex,Dakota Mortensen. Utah authorities are currently investigating the matter.
An insider with direct knowledge tells TMZ … the future of ‘SLOMW’ is very much up in the air … not only are police doing their thing, but a third-party investigator hired by series production company JJP is looking into unspecified leveled accusations among the cast.
Bottom line … nothing is going to happen until findings can be reviewed by ABC — and with or without TFP, we’re told it’s unknown if another moment of the popular Hulu reality series will ever be filmed.
As you know … Taylor’s season of “The Bachelorette” has also been derailed after TMZ reported video from TFP’s 2023 DV case. That case has nothing to do with the stoppage of ‘SLOMW’ … and was even discussed on the series.
It’s anyone’s guess if her ‘Bachelorette’ season will ever air … but we did break the news this morning that she is still getting her Benjamins for the series.
Due to ever-growing cities and the parasitic urbanization of natural lands, it can be hard to find remote backpacking destinations these days.
Luckily, there are still some places where the natural beauty of the untamed wilderness is all you can see for miles.
Here are some of the top locations for backpackers looking to get as far away from civilization as possible.
1. Lake Baikal, Russia
Baikal is the oldest and deepest freshwater lake in the world. It stretches 400 miles through south-eastern Siberia, just north of the Mongolian border, within the cleft where Asia is splitting apart. This split will become an ocean in many years to come.
Camping on beautiful Lake Baikal
Stunning Sights
Seals frequent the waters and rocky sides of the lake, basking in the open sun to watch visitors meander by. Olkhon Island is home to a rock formation, which used to be a cave, known as Shamanka Rock.
This site was once the place where shamans carried out sacrifices to the spirits of the island.
To this day, people continue to visit to experience its beauty and captivating history.
How to Get There
Lake Baikal is a breathtaking destination surrounded by the Siberian taiga forests and large snow-capped mountains. However, it is not the easiest place to reach.
The closest international airport is located in Irkutsk, which is also a stop on the famous Trans-Siberian Railway. From there, backpackers can travel to the nearby town of Listvyanka and hop on the Great Baikal Trail, which is still being completed by residents of the surrounding towns.
The shores of beautiful Lake Baikal from Olkhon Island
This will take you around the lakeshore – a trek lasting about three days – to the village of Bolshoye. There are places to camp along the way, as well as homestays if the weather proves unbearable.
Alternatively, to get to Olkhon Island, you can take a 7-hour bus/van ride for about $20 from Irkutsk to the ferry terminal. The ferry takes about 20 minutes to arrive at the island. Once on the island, the bus (van) will take you to your guesthouse.
Check out Nikita’s Homestead which includes room and board. This is the most “happening” place on the island.

2. Svalbard Archipelago, Norway
Located in a series of islands far above the Norwegian mainland, Svalbard is home to prowling Polar bears and nimble Arctic foxes. It sits far above the Arctic Circle and is inhabited by villagers who just love to interact with international visitors. This is definitely one of the more remote backpacking destinations.
Stunning Sights
Here, travelers can experience the Midnight Sun. “Between late May and mid-August, nowhere in the country experiences true darkness,” reports Lonely Planet. In Trondheim, for example, “the first stars aren’t visible until mid-August.”
Fata morgana is an unusual phenomenon that many parts of the world will never experience.
“The clear and pure Arctic air ensures that distant features do not appear out of focus. As a result, depth perception becomes impossible and the world takes on a strangely two-dimensional aspect, where distances are indeterminable,” Lonely Planet explains.
How to Get There
Traveling to the archipelago is easiest by flight from Oslo, Norway to Longyearbyen in Svalbard, Norway. From this tourist town full of friendly locals, there are hardly any roads that lead elsewhere. For this reason, locals and travelers alike must rent snowmobiles or boats to travel to distant towns.
Some travellers also choose to explore the surrounding fjords and glaciers aboard an Arctic cruise ship, which allows access to remote parts of the archipelago that are otherwise difficult to reach.
For backpackers, it is best to pick a warmer season for travel or go with an experienced backpacker who knows how to brave the arctic winters. Blogger Stevie of Stevie on the Move shares his experiences in Svalbard and gives tips on how to save money and where to stay during the trip.
3. Torres del Paine, Chile
This expansive national park, full of wildlife and extravagant landscapes, is nestled high above the Patagonian steppe. This land was a sheep ranch long before it was converted into a park for travelers.
Here you’ll find glacier lakes, incredible hiking trails, endless forest and roaring rivers. The scenery here truly is spectacular.
Stunning Sights
Aside from the towering steppe and park itself, this area holds a beauty unique to Chile. The crystal clear Lake Nordenskjold sits before the Salto Grande waterfall.
Many visitors venture here to trek the famous “O” circuit through the pristine landscape created by this large body of water.
Lake Pehoe is another popular trek due to its breathtaking view of the mountains of Cuernos del Paine.
How to Get There
This circuit is located in Patagonia, just Northeast of Punta Arenas.
It stretches between the Los Andes Mountain Range and the Patagonian Steppe in Ultima Esperanza Province. It is easiest to purchase a plane ticket and fly to Punta Arenas – or take a bus from Puerto Montt, near Santiago, to Punta Arenas.
Here is a detailed guide on how to arrive at your destination. Keep in mind that because this is such a rugged destination, there is some outdoor gear that you’ll need to pack with you.
4. Laugavegurinn Trail, Iceland
Iceland’s southern highlands attract adventurers from around the world – but why?
According to Jennifer Pharr Davis of National Geographic, the highlands contain “lava fields, cross-glacial streams, and traverse breathtaking landscapes with geologic features that include hot springs, volcanoes, glaciers, and mountains in hues of pink, purple, blue, green, and yellow.”
Stunning Sights
This 49-mile-long trail allows trekkers to experience Iceland far away from the major cities and towns. It connects two nature reserves: Landmannalaugar and Thorsmork.
To learn how to travel here on a budget, check out this article by backpacker and Frugal Frolicker Lindsey.
How to Get There
It is only possible to do this hike from mid-July to mid-September, since other months are typically too snowy. You can begin in Reykjavik and travel to Landmannalaugar by riding a Reykjavik Excursions bus.
Lindsay details the entire process here, as well as prices.
5. Mount Rinjani, Indonesia
Located on Lombok Island in Rinjani National Park, this large mountain and active volcano is surrounded by lush rainforests. It is considered an incredibly difficult trek to the top, and many advise you to hire a guide to take you through the maze of forests.
However, it is possible to do without someone leading the way. Plus, this will give you the option to take it slow and really take in the scenery. This is definitely one of the best places to visit in Lombok.
Stunning Sights
Indonesia is an exotic location full of wild animals, such as the proboscis monkey, Sumatran tiger, and pygmy elephant. There are numerous colorful birds to see, as well as reptiles and wild pigs. The rainforest is a mini world in itself when it comes to the creatures that inhabit it.
Indonesia’s waterfalls are also an extravagant sight to behold. While it may be a good idea for you to mark their locations on a map before you set off, rest assured that they’re easy to stumble upon if you are exploring without a guide.
There are numerous volcanoes in Indonesia, but Mt. Rinjani is one of the most popular ones to visit.
You can hire a guide at your hostel or guesthouse, or go through a tour agent. Or, If you have a proper map and have sourced local advice and information, you can do the trek independently.
How to Get There
There are flights from Bali, Jakarta, and Surabaya, as well as from Singapore to Lombok. (Lombok is the island where Mount Rinjani is located.)
To get to Indonesia from surrounding countries, you can check out AirAsia.com for budget flights. If you fly into Bali, you can take a ferry boat over to Lombok, or a flight.
6. Golden Bay, New Zealand
At the northern tip of the South Island of New Zealand is a gorgeous remote place called Golden Bay. Whilst remaining relatively undiscovered, it has the kind of vibe that just draws you in. Plenty of backpackers plan to visit for a few days and end up staying weeks.
Life is really laid back here. Think barefoot beach walks and long cafe mornings with days shaped around the weather and tides rather than busy schedules.
Wharariki Beach. Photo by beardandcurly.com.
Stunning Sights
Golden Bay is absolutely jam packed with natural beauty. There’s lots of wildlife and if you’re lucky enough you might even see some seal pups playing in the shallow tide. Wharariki Beach, with its dramatic rock formations and rolling dunes is maybe the main highlight.
But over the other side of the tip is Abel Tasman National Park with equally gorgeous golden beaches. There’s also the stunning Abel Tasman Coast Track to hike. Inland there’s forest walks and hidden swimming holes. Don’t miss the crystal clear freshwater Te Waikoropupū Springs – although you can’t swim in them.
How To Get There
There’s no airport near Golden Bay itself which helps keep visitor numbers low. Most backpackers drive from Nelson, crossing the winding Takaka Hill. It’s a seriously scenic journey with incredible viewpoints along the way and is all part of the charm of visiting Golden Bay.
7. Kyrgyzstan
This Central Asian nation is just starting to get the attention it deserves, but don’t worry, it’s still one of the top backpacking destinations for those looking to get away from it all.
Travel here and experience a unique culture, welcoming people, and pristine nature.
Stunning Sights
Explore Lake Issyk-Kul and its stunning shoreline, hike up to Ala Kul lake, go horseback riding to Song Kol Lake, and experience the mountain village of Arslanbob. There are numerous places to visit in Kyrgyzstan for those who love the outdoors.
For hiking and trekking, Jyrgalan is the up and coming destination. There are some new trails here waiting for you to explore, yurts for you to sleep in, and Kyrgyz hospitality to experience.
Of course, if you want to add to this epic destination, you can always tackle the Pamir Highway which runs from Kyrgyzstan to Tajikistan.
Hiking in Jyrgalan
How To Get There
The capital city of Bishkek is actually really well connected. A quick search will show you various airlines and routes. Once you’re in Bishkek, a minibus can take you to Karakol and Lake Issyk-Kul. And, you can get to Jyrgalan from Lake Issyk-Kul in just 45 minutes by bus as well.
Ready for Your Next Backpacking Destination!
Most of these landmarks are accessible with the right gear and mental attitude. Just remember not to be mindful and responsible. Do everything in your power to avoid destroying the natural flora around you, and keep the trails beautiful and serene for future hikers. Happy travels!
The man sat down for the first real interview in years and didn’t dodge a single scar.
Last year broke him different. Not the kind you turn into a classic album overnight. The kind that sits heavy in your chest and makes anger feel uncontrollable. Somebody tried to pin the worst crime on his name, his family, his legacy, right when his daughter was finally stepping into her own light.
Civil suit. Accusations that hit harder because they came for everything he built. He said the anger felt like the old days. Even after the whole thing got dismissed, the damage lingered in public opinion. People ran. Partners got quiet. Some who ate off his wins for years suddenly remembered they had somewhere else to be when the smoke got thick.
He wouldn’t settle. Flat out said it ain’t in his DNA. Told his wife straight, told his inner circle, “I can’t do it. It would kill me.” Cheaper and quicker to make it go away? Sure. But some things cost more than money. Some things strip the soul if you let them. He chose to sit in it. Couldn’t rap his way out. Had to feel every second of playing defense.
Then one day he stood up and told the world 2026 is all offense.
That line hit different. I remember Reasonable Doubt dropping and selling thirty-four thousand first week. Labels laughed. MTV gave him the last slot like he was some nobody. Streets made it platinum anyway. Every corner you turned somebody had that tape. But the industry rejected him at every door. He wasn’t dejected. Just rejected. And at every closed door he thought the same thing these niggas don’t see the vision. They slackin’.
Thirty years later he’s still moving like that. Still believes showing up and doing the work is proof enough. Only now the battlefield is bigger. The accusations hit harder. The circle gets tested in ways the old Marcy days never could.
He talked about the code he carried from the streets. No women. No kids. Real lines even the worst of us respected when we was out there living wrong. Said he brought that same integrity into every boardroom, every deal, every move after he left the corners. That’s why the accusation cut so deep. Because in his mind, even when he was doing dirt, there were rules. Lines you didn’t cross. And somebody tried to erase that entire history with one convenient lie.
The anger wasn’t just about being accused. It was about watching consequence disappear in real time. Accuse first, evidence later, maybe never. Settlement or destruction, pick one and keep moving. He refused to pick. Sat in the fire instead.
That’s where a lot of men break. Not him. He leaned on the small circle who actually love him, not just the wins. The ones who said we standing by you, what do you need? instead of running for cover. He needed that because usually he could disappear into the booth and blow the pain out in verses. This time he had to live with it raw.
Meanwhile his daughter Blue was out there fighting for every minute on stage. First tour she was going through the motions. Then something clicked. She started fighting back. Wanted to be on every number, dancing in six-inch heels at thirteen, remembering choreography most grown folks couldn’t handle. He had to physically pull her off some songs like you crazy? But she kept pushing. Perfect pitch, teaching herself piano just because it feels good, not because she wants it to become a job. Watching her grind for something she truly wanted made him proud in a way nothing else could right then. His own fight reflected back through his child.
He talked about 4:44, how it was the hardest album he ever made because it forced him to drop the Superman cape in front of the whole world. Most people get to go through their mess in private. He put his on tour. Night after night. Said it was healing even when it hurt. Then came Everything Is Love and those crazy verses where the chemistry with Beyoncé was just flowing because they were having fun in the studio again. He said being in her creative energy fulfills him more than it sparks his own right now. He’s heavy. Still processing. Scratch ideas he made during the anger sounded fiery but empty. He knows music has to come from where he actually is.
The conversation turned to the culture stuff that always follows him.
People throw “capitalist” at him like it’s a slur. Like the American Dream was cool until he actually lived it. He said he makes art first, then makes sure he gets compensated for it. Didn’t take advantage of people. Didn’t exploit loopholes. Just saw the world for what it is, not what idealists wish it was. Realist, not idealist. That mindset alone makes him a target. Because once you stop playing the struggling artist role, they want to punish you for it. Want you to stay broke and righteous. Anything else feels like betrayal to some.
He pushed back on the word “allowed.” Said we gotta take that out our vocabulary. Nobody allows us to do anything. Nobody has authority over us. We exist same as everybody else. That kind of talk makes certain people uncomfortable. Makes you a threat to the status quo. He quoted Nipsey: “Pray for me, y’all, one day I’ma have to pay for these thoughts.” Real niggas is extinct, it ain’t safe for me. He feels that. The more he reveals himself, the more they come.
On the Kendrick and Drake situation he surprised a lot of people. Said battling used to be one of the four pillars of hip-hop but now it might be doing more harm than good. With social media it don’t end after the diss records. It turns into cults, stand armies, kids getting pulled in, people trying to wreck each other’s lives and families. He loves the music that came out of it but hates what it leaves behind. Said we grown enough now to spar through collaboration instead of trying to tear the whole culture apart. Old head talk? Maybe. But it’s honest talk from a man who’s watched the game change and still carries the scars from his own legendary beefs.
He still sees wins where other people see losses. Bought into the Nets, had that tiny slice of ownership, still called it a win because he had skin in a Brooklyn basketball team. Everything happens for your greatest good, he said. Even the rejections. Even the doors that slammed shut. Didn’t feel like it at the time, but it shaped him into who he is. That mindset came from living wild, Marcy to Trenton to Cambridge to Newport News, coming out unscathed after three shots, never seeing the inside of a jail. Made him curious. Made him read. Seat of the Soul, Celestine Prophecy, picking up gems wherever he could find them. At twenty-six he already had lifetimes under his belt.
Now at this stage he’s still climbing. Thought the highest floor in the hotel was the end. Then learned there was another level above that. Realized owning the building is the next move. Says if we stay childlike and curious there’s always another floor. That hunger never left.
So yeah… they said Fuck Jay-Z last year. Loud. Confident. Like it was facts.
He heard every word.
Then decided the best answer is to keep building, keep protecting his circle, keep raising a daughter who fights for what she wants, and step into 2026 with all offense.
The narrative tried to bury him.
The man refused the dirt.
And the game still ain’t ready for what comes next.
What part of this interview hit you the hardest? The refusal to settle? The way he’s raising Blue? The take on battling in the social media era? Or the simple fact that after thirty years he’s still moving like he got something to prove?
Like a miniature chapel with enough space for one person to stand comfortably, Judith Schaechter’s glowing installation, “Super/Natural,” invites viewers to reflect on nature. An exhibition of the same name just opened at Claire Oliver Gallery and pays homage to biophilia, a theory positing that humans seek connections with nature through an innate attraction. Schaechter celebrates this propensity with a cornucopia of florals, insects, birds, and other imaginative organic forms.
“The vernacular of stained glass is one of worship and mythology,” Schaechter says. “Super/Natural turns this a bit on its head, creating a secular sanctuary for contemplating beauty, nature, and our relationship to it.” The sculpture, which comprises 65 panes and took nearly two years to complete, is topped with a small geodesic dome and stands about eight feet tall.
“Super/Natural” came about partly as a result of Schaechter’s residency at the Penn Center for Neuroaesthetics, which focuses on a sub-discipline of cognitive neuroscience concerned with how the brain processes aesthetic experiences. The artist attended lab meetings with researchers and scientists and was influenced by explorations into the “relationships between art, beauty, morality, and the brain,” the gallery says.
“My goal is to invite viewers into a deeply personal, immersive experience that explores the connections between self, nature, and imagination,” Schaechter adds in a statement. “We are ultimately connected to—not just observing—nature.”
Super/Natural continues through May 23 in Harlem. Find more on the artist’s Instagram, along with insights into her research and process on her blog.

Taylor Frankie Paul is revealing how the leaked video from a 2023 incident with her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen is affecting her daughter after the video was made public.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star said her eight-year-old daughter Indy, whom she shares with ex-husband Tate Paul, is “having to relive” the incident all over again.
“Worst part is my daughter is having to relive and see it all over again years later after extensive work with her and apologies to her about that night,” Paul wrote on TikTok.
‘The Bachelorette’ Season 22 cancelled amid Taylor Frankie Paul controversy
She also said her two-year-old son Ever, whom she shares with Mortensen, had his birthday “taken from him” because the footage was published online that day.

Paul was previously arrested for domestic violence charges following the incident in 2023.
She faced misdemeanour charges of assault, criminal mischief and commission of domestic violence in the presence of a child after she was accused of throwing a chair at Mortensen that reportedly hit her daughter.
The 31-year-old reality star pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in August 2023, while the other charges were dismissed, according to ABC4 Utah.

Footage of the alleged 2023 incident between Paul and Mortensen, where she can be seen kicking and hitting her ex-boyfriend and throwing chairs at him, was leaked to TMZ on March 19.
“Your daughter is right here,” Mortensen says in the video before Paul throws a chair in his direction.

During an interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Paul told host Alex Cooper the charges stemming from her 2023 arrest “were all dropped.”
“I never had hurt my daughter. I never intentionally did anything with my children,” Paul added.
“After the arrest, I was under so much stress. I was filmed leaving the jail and then that was immediately on the internet,” she said. “It was a blessing in disguise. It helped me wake up.”
It has not been confirmed who released the video to TMZ.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Miranda Hope became the first cast member to publicly speak out following the recent news on Friday.
“Domestic violence and abuse of any kind is something I take very seriously. As a human, and especially a mother, I cannot support that kind of behavior. My heart is with the children in this and I hope they’re safe, supported and surrounded by love,” she wrote.
Over the weekend, Hope addressed rumours that one of Paul’s co-stars leaked the video.
“The first time I saw that video was the same day you all did. None of us girls have ever been in possession of it or any other evidence,” she said. “My intent with my statement was not to shade Taylor, but to simply address that I do not support nor condone that behavior from either party.

“I have my theories on who leaked the video, but I can promise you it wasn’t any of the women.”
ABC decided to pull Season 22 of The Bachelorette, starring Paul, after the video surfaced.
“In light of the newly released video just surfaced today, we have made the decision to not move forward with the new season of The Bachelorette at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family,” Disney Entertainment Television said in a statement last week.
Disney’s statement did not include details on what the network planned to do with the already filmed season of the dating reality series.
Taylor Frankie Paul domestic violence video causes ‘The Bachelorette’ to be cancelled
Following the news of the season cancellation, Paul said in a statement from her spokesperson: “Taylor is very grateful for ABC’s support as she prioritizes her family’s safety and security. After years of silently suffering extensive mental and physical abuse as well as threats of retaliation, Taylor is finally gaining the strength to face her accuser and taking steps to ensure that she and her children are protected from any further harm.”

“There are too many women who are suffering in silence as they survive aggressive, jealous ex-partners who refuse to let them move on with their lives. Taylor has remained silent out of fear of further abuse, retaliation and public shaming. She is currently exploring all of her options, seeking support, and preparing to own and share her story.”
After the video was released, a spokesperson for the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star said in an earlier statement that it’s “sad to see the latest installment” of Mortensen’s “never-ending, desperate, attention-seeking, destructive campaign to harm Taylor without any regard for the consequences for their child.”
“Releasing an old video, which conveniently omits context, on their son’s birthday is a reprehensible attempt to distract from his own behavior. Thankfully, the public has seen this act before and knows who he is and sadly, many will recognize this pattern of manipulation, both in his actions on the show, and from their own experiences,” her rep added.
In response, Mortensen said, “As anyone who has seen the video will understand, this is a deeply upsetting situation.”
“I am, unfortunately, used to these baseless claims about me and our relationship, which I categorically deny. I am focusing on our son and his safety, and hope that Taylor will do the same,” his statement said.
Despite a trade war and other geopolitical tensions, as well as the ongoing mortgage renewal wave, the majority of Canadian homeowners are still meeting their monthly mortgage payments, according to a new poll.
About 83 per cent of Canadian homeowners say they have never missed a mortgage payment, according to a survey from brokerage True North Mortgage Inc., released on Tuesday.
Still, that doesn’t mean households aren’t facing financial strain. More than one-third of respondents say it has been challenging to keep up mortgage payments over the past year.
“It hasn’t been an easy year for homeowners,” said Dan Eisner, chief executive of True North Mortgage. “There’s been a lot of trade and tariff talk over the last year, which is creating a lot of will-they, won’t-they indecision for home buyers, and then
interest rates
have moved around quite a bit.”
Canadian government five-year bond yields have also surged recently amid the war on Iran, which Eisner said is already affecting the five-year fixed mortgage rate.
“Signs of financial stress are evident,” said Tania Bourassa-Ochoa, deputy chief economist at the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). “Canadian households are still very leveraged, so (they have) high levels of debt.”
Mortgage debt
hit $1.95 trillion in the fourth quarter of 2025, a 2.6 per cent increase from the previous year, according to the latest
data from Equifax
Canada Inc.
And while the overall mortgage arrears rate in Canada remains low at 0.22 per cent, it is rising more quickly among borrowers whose mortgages originated during the pandemic years of 2020 and 2021 and the post‑pandemic period, said Bourassa-Ochoa.
There is a specific localized impact in higher-cost areas, such as Toronto, according to
. Toronto’s mortgage arrears rate has more than quadrupled, to 0.26 per cent, from post-pandemic lows and is expected to continue climbing.
Higher
household debt
, a weak labour market and declining home values have contributed to an acceleration in Toronto homeowners struggling to keep up with their mortgage payments. Bourassa-Ochoa said Toronto homeowners in dire financial straits cannot even turn to the sale of their home to dig themselves out of debt, due to declining prices and increasing number of days on the market.
So how are the majority of Canadians keeping up with their home loans?
True North said it saw a 67 per cent increase in refinances last year, with possible reasons including debt consolidation and extending the mortgage
amortization
period to reduce payments.
Bourassa-Ochoa said CMHC has seen many homeowners increase their amortization period, though this too comes at a cost of higher total interest paid over the life of the loan. “There is this trade-off between short-term
affordability
and long-term wealth.”
She added homebuyers are moving away from five-year fixed mortgages and are securing longer-term home loans instead to spread out their payments.
More than half (57 per cent) of homeowners indicated in the True North survey that they have delayed making other financial decisions to prioritize mortgage payments. About 36 per cent have postponed travel or vacations, 31 per cent have shelved home repairs or renovations and 27 per cent have delayed retirement savings or investments.
Nearly a quarter of respondents said they postponed paying off other debts. Data consistently show borrowers tend to
default on other types of debt
(such as auto loans and credit) first before defaulting on their mortgage, which can come with more severe repercussions, such as foreclosure, according to the CMHC
“Typically, homeowners facing financial struggle will prioritize their mortgage,” Eisner said, adding that he was initially surprised the proportion of those who had never missed a payment wasn’t higher, such as in the mid-90s, instead of 83 per cent.
Bourassa-Ochoa said she is seeing consumers take on more debt, such as credit cards and loans. “Consumers are trying to move things around … to make ends meet.”
The CMHC is watching out for any changes in inflation and labour market conditions, especially in regions impacted by tariffs, such as Ontario and its automobile industry, Bourassa-Ochoa said.
The national unemployment rate rose to 6.7 per cent in February, as the economy lost 84,000 jobs, according to the
latest jobs data
from Statistics Canada.
“When you look at Canada’s history, the main driver of mortgage arrears has always been unemployment,” Bourassa-Ochoa said. “If we see a big economic shock that would result in massive job losses, that’s really where the risk is significantly higher.”
These tiny homemade bread crumbs can make a big impact on your meal! They’re the perfect crisp finishing touch on casseroles, salads and more. Follow this recipe to make regular golden bread crumbs, or add the optional seasonings and your kitchen will smell like the best Italian restaurant.
This simple recipe is far more flavorful than store-bought options, and keeps well for months. Use your bread of choice, whether it’s your favorite crusty sourdough or whole wheat sandwich bread. If you have leftover bread that’s turning stale, turn it into bread crumbs to save it for later (or croutons or French toast)!
Bread Crumb Tips
You’ll find a brief instructional video and the full recipe below. Here’s how to make the best bread crumbs!
Turn bread into crumbs in your food processor or blender. Yes, a blender will do it! Fresh or lightly stale bread will do (see note at the bottom of this section). Process until the bread is broken up into the tiniest bits—if in doubt, process longer.
Butter works much better than olive oil. My bread crumbs clumped significantly more upon contact with olive oil, and the olive oil crumbs softened over time after cooking while the buttered bread crumbs stayed nicely crisp.
Add the bread crumbs at the right time. Melt the butter in the skillet and wait until the foam is nearly gone, then test the temperature by dropping in a few bread crumbs. If they sizzle upon impact, the butter is hot enough to fry the crumbs.
Spread the freshly cooked bread crumbs on a plate to cool. This stops the cooking process before they burn and gives them some breathing room so they stay nice and crisp.
Note: Many recipes suggest intentionally drying out your bread before using (methods include letting them rest overnight on the counter or baked on a rack at 275 degrees Fahrenheit for about 20 minutes). I successfully made bread crumbs with sandwich bread straight from the store, so this step is unnecessary unless your bread is notably moist or soft.

Bread Crumbs
These toasted, golden bread crumbs are the perfect finishing touch! They taste so much better than store-bought bread crumbs. If your recipe calls for seasoned bread crumbs, be sure to add the optional seasonings, or leave them unseasoned for maximum versatility. Recipe yields around 1 ¼ cups and stores well for several months.
To make the breadcrumbs: Tear your bread into 2-inch pieces and toss them into a food processor or blender. If desired, add the garlic powder, oregano and red pepper flakes. Process until the bread has broken into very small crumbs. If in doubt, process longer!
Place a large plate near the stove for later. In a large stainless steel or cast iron skillet over medium heat, melt the butter until the foam is nearly gone, swirling the pan a couple of times for even distribution. Test to make sure that the pan is hot enough by dropping in a few bread crumbs—if they sizzle upon impact, it’s ready to go.
Add the bread crumbs. Increase the heat to medium-high and cook for about 3 minutes to 5 minutes, stirring constantly and breaking up any clumps as you go, until the crumbs are turning crisp and deeply golden in places.
Transfer the bread crumbs to the plate and spread them in an even layer to cool. The crumbs will further crisp as they cool. Season to taste with salt before using. Once completely cooled, transfer any leftovers to a storage bag, gently squeeze out any excess air and seal. Store bread crumbs at room temperature for up to 3 months (look them over and taste before using to ensure quality).
Notes
*Types of bread: Use sourdough, baguettes or sandwich bread (regular or whole wheat).
